Seeking: Sr. Engineer


Duration: 12 month contract


Location: Apollo Beach, FL (33572)


Description:



  • Must be able to direct others; may have full responsibility for supervision, training, orientation or the assignment of work to other employees; may have broad authority and responsibility for projects or personnel as may be assigned.

  • This position must have sound knowledge of functional area of work and advanced engineering concepts and their interactions and relationship to total Company operation.

  • Senior Engineer Must be able to direct others; may have full responsibility for supervision, training, orientation or the assignment of work to other employees; may have broad authority and responsibility for projects or personnel as may be assigned; may prepare and /or approve independent engineering analyses, specifications and reports; shall have the ability to establish and implement efficient work procedures and practices.

  • Must be capable of executing complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures; may be call on to conduct, coordinate and supervise complex engineering studies and reports such as those required by specialized governmental agencies; must be able to coordinate activities of outside consultants on complex projects.

  • Emphasis for this position is on mechanical engineering or process engineering.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:



  1. Provide project support on assigned projects and provide technical support to the Engineering & Project Management team and other Energy Supply personnel as required. As project discipline engineer, monitor ongoing work activities to confirm manufacturer/fabricator compliance to project plans, specifications and monitor/enforces compliance to all regulatory requirements. 50%.

  2. Monitor daily work activities of contractors assigned to him/her, and coordinate work with E&PM Construction, outage coordinators, planners and on-site and off-site contractors 15%.

  3. Coordinate Tampa Electric comments to consulting engineer and supplier documents, and ensure documents are appropriately issued, maintained and permanently filed 15%.

  4. Advise and assist E&PM Construction personnel in developing Scope of Works, project schedules, and cost estimates -10%.

  5. Schedule and facilitate project team meetings/conference calls to maintain project schedules and costs -10%.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET accredited four year college.

  • Master of Science in engineering.

  • Pass the Florida Fundamentals of Engineering exam and Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida


Preferred:



  • 7+ years of experience working in utility generating facilities or engineering companies performing mechanical/process engineering work for utility generating facilities.

  • Two years of experience supervising cooperative education students and/or contractors

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge in mechanical/process engineering work related area.
